The Iconic Tata Sierra Returns With a Modern Look and a Bigger Price Question
The Tata Sierra has come back after many years, and the excitement around it is high. The original boxy Sierra from the 90s was a car that people still remember, and Tata has used that memory well. The company launched the new 2025 Sierra on November 25.
The starting price is ₹11.49 lakh ex showroom, which makes it one of the most talked about SUV launches of the year. The main question for most buyers is simple. How much will the fully loaded top model cost when all features are added?

Tata has shared the base price for the Smart+ variant. It starts at ₹11.49 lakh as an introductory tag. The full variant list will come in early December 2025.
The most talked about variant is the Accomplished+. This is the version that gets the maximum features and the best engine choice. According to early estimates, this model may fall between ₹18 lakh and ₹22 lakh ex showroom.
For buyers in cities like Delhi or Mumbai, the on road cost will go higher. When we add registration, insurance, and taxes, the top model can reach ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh. This places the new Sierra among strong mid size SUV rivals. Yet the overall package looks strong enough to hold attention.
The Accomplished+ is the version that most early buyers are asking about. The list of features in this trim is long. Tata has added a panoramic sunroof that covers a large part of the roof.
The size of this sunroof is one of the biggest selling points. It is almost the size of a dining table and gives the cabin a very open feel.
The dashboard design uses three screens. The driver gets a dedicated display for information. The center of the dashboard has a large touchscreen. The front passenger also gets a separate display. This setup gives the cabin a modern look that stands out in this segment.
The sound system is another highlight. The Accomplished+ gets a 12 speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos.
This gives a clear sound output and creates a solid in car experience. The safety tech also moves ahead with Level 2+ ADAS. There are more than 20 active safety functions that support braking and steering.
Comfort features are also strong. The top model gets ventilated seats, a powered driver seat with memory, and an air purifier with an AQI display. The exterior gets slim LED headlamps that measure only 17 mm, which gives the front a sharp look. The boot space goes up to 622 litres, which is more than enough for long drives.
Tata has added three engine choices with the new Sierra. The 1.5 litre normal petrol engine makes 106 PS. This engine will be seen mostly in the lower trims. The next option is the 1.5 litre turbo petrol Hyperion engine. This unit makes around 160 to 170 PS.
This will likely be the main choice for top trims. The final option is the 1.5 litre Kryojet diesel engine that produces 118 PS and up to 280 Nm torque. This diesel model is suitable for long highway use.
Most buyers looking at the top model will choose the turbo petrol engine. It will come with a smooth 6 speed automatic gearbox. This combination fits the premium nature of the Accomplished+ trim.
The Sierra will come in six different colors. All of them get a black roof. The options include Bengal Rouge, Andaman Adventure, Coorg Clouds, Munnar Mist, Pristine White, and Pure Grey.
Each shade gives the SUV a different style. Munnar Mist has a interesting effect as it shifts tone in different lighting. Bengal Rouge and Andaman Adventure are expected to be the most popular shades.
Tata began taking bookings from December 16 with a token amount of ₹25,000. Deliveries for the Sierra will start on January 15, 2026. In the first 24 hours after launch, more than 10,000 bookings were recorded. This shows the strong interest in the new model. Many buyers who were waiting for a modern SUV with a mix of retro design now have a solid option.
The starting price of ₹11.49 lakh already gives the Sierra an edge over rivals like Creta, Seltos, and Grand Vitara. Many features, such as the panoramic sunroof, appear in lower variants. This gives the Sierra a value advantage.
When the top models enter the ₹20 lakh to ₹22 lakh range, it will directly target the high trims of its rivals. The Sierra offers a larger sunroof, more screens, and a fresh design. Many users on X and Instagram are already sharing the design as one of the main reasons they want it.
For buyers who liked the earlier Sierra and want a SUV that feels fresh, the Accomplished+ trim is expected to deliver a premium feel. The price may touch ₹22 lakh, but the feature list and design may justify the cost.
The complete price list is coming in the first week of December. For now, the new Sierra has created a strong early impact, and demand is likely to grow in the coming months.
