Shrimati Indira Gandhi College was founded in 1984 by that great educationist Vidys Seva Ratnam K. Santhanam, as the then secretary of National College Council, with the active support of President Y.Venkateshwara Dikshidhar. It is situated in the heart of the town, right opposite to the Chatram Bus stand.
