This institute was established in August 1983 by the Government of Gujarat under Directorate of Technical Education of Gujarat state to promote Technical Education. Initially two programmes were launched, namely Diploma in Civil Engineering and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with an intake capacity of 30 seats in each programme.
