The Government Polytechnic, Joida is started in the year 2008 by Department of Technical Education, Karnataka government. The college started with four courses which includes Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Initially the college running its classes in some of rented buildings in Joida. The college shifted to new building in Aug 2012.The new building was inaugurated by then higher education minister Sri. C.
