About Foundry and Forge Technology

It is a branch of engineering that deals with foundry and a forge of metals. The difference between foundry and forge is that a foundry melts metals in specific furnaces and pours the molten metal into moulds to create items. Foundries are classified by the type of metal they deal with: iron foundry, brass foundry, and so on, whereas a forge, is a furnace or hearth where metals are heated before being hammered into shape. Recent Trends in Forging technology include the forging processes involving electrical upsetters, orbital forging presses, automatic horizontal forging presses and multi ram forging presses, transverse rolling etc.

The eligibility to study this course is a degree in automobile/  mechanical/ manufacturing/ production/ metallurgy engineering. This course is studied as a post-graduate course.
