About Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

This is a branch of engineering that aims to combine the fields of mechanical and electronic engineering. This course includes subjects such as robotics, electronics, telecom, computer science and product engineering. At the undergraduate level, it's a 3-year course. This course is excellent when seeing from a career based perspective as jobs are available in a diverse sector so students can get employed in multiple fields. Also, this course will be highly beneficial for students who are looking to move out of the country for job opportunities. So it is recommended for students to enrol in this course.

What is Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering?

This course aims to teach students about the various optimization methods used for structures, technological systems, and simulation and modelling tools used for research and development. The top subjects in this course are Engineering Mechanics, Analog and Digital Electronics, Electrical drives, mechanics etc. This course aims to teach students about the various parts of robots, automotives, electronics that help in the movement of these instruments. Students learn about electronic and mechanical systems, process control and instrumentation, and robotics and automated manufacturing. At the post-graduate level, students learn Industrial Management, mechatronic systems, Wireless Communications, Control systems, Signal processing etc. Students who participate in this course learn to design and operate factory lines and automated production machines. These skills will be convenient when using computers, microcontrollers, programming etc.

It is also ensured that students learn how to solve complex problems, which will be necessary for the students in various projects. Thinking critically is another essential part of a student's development. They can use their rational mind to make decisions calmly and balanced, enhancing innovative capabilities. Taking decisions and learning new things is also just an essential aspect of a student's overall development. These students should also design something that can help them solve their client needs and manage huge teams. The syllabus for this course is as follows: Engineering Mechanics, Computer programming, basic electronics, Instrumentation and Control, embedded system, electrical machine, engineering thermodynamics for the first two years. Fluid Mechanics, Machinery CAD, Program Logic Controller, HMI. Hydraulics & pneumatics, robotics, Digital signal processing, Mechatronics system design, automation have been taught in the last two years.

Eligibility and Career in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

To be eligible in this course, a student should have an aggregate of 75% in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the core subjects. The duration for this course at the Undergraduate level is of 4 years. A post-graduate at the same time is of the two years. The eligibility for that is the students should have passed undergraduate level with a 60% aggregate in the relevant field. The various job positions that a graduate in this field can achieve are Automation engineer, HMI programmer, Machine Designer, Research Assistant, professor in areas such as agriculture and forestry, robotics in the military, medical fields, food processing, advanced manufacturing etc.
