About Internet of Things Engineering

IoT Engineering deals with providing an excellent base to students in computer networking and wireless transmission of information. The goal of this course is to prepare students to acquire professional knowledge and practical skills to handle and improve wireless communication, ease of networking, and IT, which will help increase the reach of the Internet of Things. This course is perfect for individuals who are looking to build a strong base of knowledge in the field of networking communication. This course has become very popular in recent years due to the growth of appliances like Alexa, Google Home, and other intelligent devices to make our lives more comfortable. As the demand for comfort keeps increasing, the field and the need for engineers will keep growing. Engineers who design these instruments, or those who indulge in mass production, will be very much in demand. Thus an innovative mindset is necessary for this field. It is expected that the IoT market will be worth a trillion dollars in the upcoming five years.

What is Internet of Things Engineering?

IoT or the Internet of Things is the field that deals with a network of Objects. These objects are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies used to transfer information with other things on the internet. Thus this course explains how devices are connected over the internetwork. It will also teach individuals how the IoT can be used to make our lives easier. The system is available as both B Tech and M Tech. This course will equip the students with skills that will be important to them when they get employed in this field. Some of the essential skills are- Security Engineering: Since this network of objects contains a vast amount of data stored in it, the necessity of securing this data is even more prominent. Thus, colleges aim to teach students the skills to keep data transmission safe by analyzing the risks and working out potential solutions for them—Machine Learning: The devices connected over a network work through sensors and other connected terminals to run. There is a requirement for machine learning algorithms. Thus for making devices further bright, machine learning becomes very important. Other skills that will be taught are Electrical Engineering, GPS development, Data analytics. For this course, students will be learning about the following: Introduction to IoT, sensors, simulation environment, IoT protocols, IoT cloud, etc. Students will be taught the fundamentals of IoT, its architecture, real-time examples of IoT, challenges, and various other subtopics.

Eligibility and Career in Internet of Things Engineering

For B.Tech, students must get at least 60% aggregate with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the core subjects. The exact total is required in B. Tech of this course for students eligible for an M. Tech in this field. The top recruiters in this field are IBM, Amazon, TCS, Facebook, Google. Students who pass out from this course can work as IoT product managers, architects, developers, data scientists, IoT cloud engineers, among various other profiles.
