About Chemical Engineering (Petro Chemical)

Petrochemical engineering is a branch of chemical engineering. It deals with refining hydrocarbons and turning them into useful materials such as fuels, fertilizers, etc. And since automobiles are an essential factor in our daily life, the petroleum industry has become the economic backbone of any country. That much is the importance of petrochemical engineering.

What is Chemical Engineering (Petro Chemical)?

The program focuses on methods and techniques used to refine hydrocarbons into more valuable products. It covers subjects like chemistry, physics, mathematics, economics and geology, as they are equally important in the petrochemical area. As not many students try this field, it is easy to achieve a high paying job with proper guidance and talent. The course curriculum is almost similar to chemical engineering, apart from the specified subjects. As told above, it includes physics, chemistry, mathematics, geology and economics. The curriculum focuses on the sustainable and safe methods which can be used in their fieldwork. Students are introduced to the new and better ways rather than the traditional ways. The course provides professionals who are talented in the field to find even better ways or innovative ways to make the area more efficient, safer, and profitable. It also gives an insight into the types of equipment that are used in the field.

Eligibility and Career in Chemical Engineering (Petro Chemical)

The criteria for the UG programs are as follows. Pass the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with at least 50% of the aggregate mark. Their course of 10+2 should be included in physics, chemistry and mathematics. They should also pass the eligibility criteria set by the university they apply to. For a master's degree in petrochemical engineering, you should acquire a bachelor's degree in petrochemical engineering or any other related course with a minimum mark of 50%. To enter the course, there are many entrance exams conducted. Students with a respectable rank on the exams are given priority to get admission in the course. As many students are inspired into engineering, some of the exams are conducted 2 or 3 times a year rather than once a year. JEE Main, JEE Advanced, BITSAT, UPSEE are some essential entrance exams for petrochemical engineering. The need for petrochemical engineers is high; it is the highest demanded job in the engineering field. As the concept of sustainable energy is more essential than ever in history, the area needs young and innovative engineers. So there is no shortage of job opportunities in this field. The job is almost sure if you completed the course. As the demand for petrochemical engineers is high, their annual income is also high. It ranges from 4 lakh a year to 20 lakh a year. The UG course takes 3-4 years to complete, divided into 6-8 semesters, and the PG takes two years to complete with four semesters as any other UG or PG course.
