ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

This course is a Post Graduate course designed for people involved in understanding environmental sciences, protecting the environment, and increasing human development. The MTech in this course will cover environmental chemistry, environmental microbiology, water supply management, wastewater management, ecological engineering, environmental biotechnology as subjects to teach the students. This program is highly recommended for environmental technology, engineering techniques, and problem-solving technology. Students who can accumulate extensive data and analyse them will also be very beneficial in this field.

This course will be helpful for the students as it will provide them with information about societal implications of environmental issues and their possible solutions, particularly with the use of technologies. Students who pass this course will be eligible to get employed in jobs like technology assessment, carbon management, policymaking with government and private organisations dealing with climate issues. It will also allow students for international exposure to environmental technology.

WHAT IS ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING?

The goal of this course is to study how exposure to hazardous materials impact the environment. The field also aims to look into the various solutions to the problems caused by these pollutants in the background and how public health can be improved by removing these pollutants. The application of scientific and engineering principles to solve this issue is the focus of this course. Another important activity done by environmental engineers is tracing back the source of the pollutants to the head. For example, tracing back contaminants in the lake to the contamination factories, the government usually holds them accountable. High knowledge of hydrology, chemical engineering, geography etc. It is needed for this field which is taught to students in this course. The course equips the students with various skills, such as the analytical skills necessary to read and comprehend big data. Next, students must communicate their findings to their colleagues and government employees and need to persuade them to act on his conclusions.

For this reason, persuasion and communication skill development are a focal point of this course. Students are also given a strong knowledge of environmental regulations to act with decisiveness in their jobs. Along with these, creative writing and various other skills are also developed for the students. The curriculum for this course is as follows: For the first semester, students are taught Environmental Chemistry and Microbiology, Water Treatment Processes, Environmental Engineering Lab. In the Second Semester, Air and Noise Pollution, Wastewater Treatment Processes, Project work. The following few semesters teach Ecology, Industrial Waste Management, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, Environmental Impact Assessment.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

This is a Post Graduate course, of a course duration of 2 years. It is required for students to have passed a B. Tech in this subject from a recognised university and a minimum of 50% aggregate. Many universities also conduct an entrance examination that students are supposed to pass with a reasonable sum. Students can get employed as Assistant Professor, Enterprise Technology Analyst, Manager Technology, Technology specialist etc., in various types of organisations like PWD departments, Pollution Control boards, Agriculture Boards, Colleges etc.
