About Mechanical Engineering(CAD/CAM)

Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that holds a wide area of specialization with many subsets and an appreciable job opportunity. It is a growing field, and technically minded individuals with basic mathematical and physical knowledge can pursue a promising career as mechanical engineers. CAD and CAM are the tools used under this branch that facilitates the easy development of machine building and durability. Computer-aided design and Computer-aided manufacturing shortly termed ad CAM and CAD, respectively. Both are equally important and useful. Other tools such as heating and cooling systems, industrial equipment and machinery, aircraft, transport systems, etc., are extensively used.

What is Mechanical Engineering(CAD/CAM)?

Mechanical engineers are primarily involved in developing new machinery and improving the efficiency and performance of the existing ones. A mechanical engineer is expected to have thorough lab knowledge and a good hold in theory. Mechanical engineers can specialize in different sorts, namely, acoustic engineering, aeronautical engineering, aerospace engineering, marine engineering, manufacturing engineering, automotive engineering, astronomical engineering, and agricultural engineering.

Mechanical engineers design and develop different types of machinery depending on specialization, like; power-consuming machines such as refrigeration and air condition, power-producing ones such as electric generators, etc. CAD and CAM are used for making these productions easier with less consumption of time. Computer-aided design (CAD) uses computer software to design and document a product that has replaced manual drafting (a practice of creating drawings by hand). It saves an immense amount of time which is the primary advantage of CAD. This tool helps create drawing with two dimensional or 3-dimensional views, which enables visualization of the model and can do any modifications and upgrade the model if needed.

Using CAD has brought a tremendous increase at the production level. Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) uses software and related types of equipment for easy production. Three components make up the backbone of the CAM tool; machinery that turns raw materials into final products, software that tells the machine how to work and provide toolpaths, and after production, toolpaths are converted to language that engines can understand.

A mechanical engineer should develop good leadership qualities, the ability to work their best even under stressful conditions, problem-solving skills, good verbal and written skills, and creativity as machinery development needs a lot of creative thinking and application.

Eligibility and Career in Mechanical Engineering(CAD/CAM)

Students can get admission to mechanical engineering directly as well as by appearing in an entrance examination. As mechanical engineers are in great demand, the rush for access is also huge. For primary level posting as a mechanical engineer need a bachelor's degree (a four-year course that can be taken online and offline) from any affiliated university. The difficulty level varies from person to person and with the university the candidate is admitted to. People who aim for a top post also do a master's degree program, enabling them to attain high-paid positions. In the next ten years, this field is expected to increase employment by about 9%.
