Construction engineering is a branch of technology science that deals with construction, planning, management, and designing infrastructures.

ABOUT CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING

Construction engineering is a branch of technology science that deals with construction, planning, management, and designing infrastructures such as roadway, highways, subway, underpass, bridges, airports, railroads, facilities, dams, utilities, buildings, etc. Construction engineering is specifically related to civil engineering. Where civil engineers are more focused on designing work, construction engineers concentrate on creating projects and the management part.

The construction engineers primarily deal with the construction procedure, costs, schedule, methods, and personal management. The primary concern of construction engineering is to develop and deliver a project under budget with proper time management.

There is no doubt that the construction engineering field is substantially influenced by technology in recent years. Therefore, construction engineers are high in demand to execute new tactics and approaches, making the industry more competitive and flaccid. A construction engineer must have skills to address the recent advancements in the industrial field such as virtual reality, augmented reality, building information modelling, etc.

WHAT IS CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING?

Among all engineering programs, construction engineering is the most comprehensive, dynamic, and competitive program. It is fundamentally based on technology and invariably revolves around the new advancements made in technology. The construction engineering program enables students to design industries, management of infrastructure, and plan. Construction engineers have more demand than other fields of technology, so they need not worry about jobs after completing the program.

This course imparts lessons about the planning of building & town, building construction materials, construction management, earthquake, transportation, environmental engineering with advanced computing techniques. Under this course, students learn to face the challenges of geotechnical engineering, ICT tools & security, modern construction building material with the functional efficiency of buildings.

After completing this program, students may get projects such as commercial & housing building projects, electrical projects, mechanical projects like plumbing, air conditioning, highways, roads, etc.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING

The construction engineering program in India is a comprehensive course of four years for undergraduates (B. Tech) and two years for postgraduates (M. Tech) students. After senior secondary education, students willing to take admission in prestigious colleges can apply for many entrance tests such as IIT- JEE, BITSAT, and NITs for under graduation. The applicants must have an aggregate of 55% to 60% in senior secondary (10+2). For the post-graduation program, candidates must have passed under graduation with a good score in relevant fields and also need to have a large GATE or TANCET score. However, passing marks may differ from college to college.

Some countries like the US, India, Japan, Canada, and Australia have a high demand for construction engineers. These countries are setting up a great many infrastructure projects in the nation. Construction engineers are also not restricted to only building projects even they can also be environmental engineers, hydraulics, or property manager. In India, ecological engineering and inspection sectors also creating new opportunities nowadays for construction engineers.

Construction engineers with MBA degrees can apply for managerial posts such as safety & design manager, cost engineer, operation manager, and project superintendent in various industries.
