Medical Electronics

Medical Electronics is the field of engineering that integrates medical science with engineering practices to contribute towards improvement in diagnostic techniques and for delivery of efficient healthcare services. This field applies knowledge of engineering, especially electronics, for devising innovative techniques for treatment of diseases and ailments with modern medical equipment. With advancements in the field, a variety of sophisticated electronic equipment has been introduced in recent years which have revolutionized the field of healthcare and have been instrumental in inventing cures for a range of ailments.

Medical Electronics engineers develop innovations that perform automating insulin injections or control other body functions. This field seeks to bridge the gap between engineering and medicine. The discipline is a combination of design and problem- solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences in order to develop healthcare procedures such as diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and therapy.

How to Join

One who wants to join Horticulture should pass the qualifying examination with an aggregate score of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. After completing the same, the student has to appear for the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE - Main) to get admission into one of the top colleges or universities in India.

Most of the engineering colleges in India offer admission to students based on the JEE Main examination. It is a national level entrance examination done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the national level apex authority responsible for the regulation and control of all engineering colleges and courses available in India. AICTE is the statutory authority responsible for proper planning and coordination on the development of the technical education system in India.

Career Prospects

With the way, the healthcare sector is growing and the prices of sophisticated electronic equipment are falling, the field promises rewarding career opportunities for skilled Medical Electronics engineers. Such graduates are offered lucrative career opportunities in designing, manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment. Most engineers work in hospitals, medical institutions, medical equipment manufacturing companies, the pharmaceutical industry and other healthcare units. There are also plentiful opportunities for such graduates in the field of medical research and also in the teaching field.
