ABOUT ELECTRICAL MACHINES AND DRIVES

Engineering in electrical machines and drives deals with the study of electrical machines' designs and their uses in high-performance applications related to traction, actuators, and commercial services. This study will concentrate on the effects of the design parameters on losses, pulsation with its density, and fault withstand. The subject is one of the important subjects to the engineers because the aspects of electrical drives are better than the other department. It is worth noting that about 60 to 70 percentage of electric power is consumed by motors, driving mechanical shafts. And virtually all this power is produced by generators driven through the mechanical shaft so that the subject is of considerable importance to the engineers. The problems and solutions in this field are discussed where appropriate to draw out the engineering implications. This course aims to bring the engineers with good theoretical knowledge and a great skill set along with the aspects of manufacturing, maintaining and managing the machines. Graduation in this field will give depth knowledge about machines and their drives.

WHAT IS ELECTRICAL MACHINES AND DRIVES?

This course, engineering in electrical machines and drives, deals with the basic ideas of pure electromagnetic principles for deriving the equivalent circuits and steady-state equations of electrical machines. In this course, the idea about Transformers and DC commutator machines is taught in this undergraduate program's initial stage because the transformer introduces induction and synchronous machines. Next to this, electronic power supplies for Electrical drives like a chopper, cyclo converter, rectifier, and inverters are explained here theoretically and practically. In this course, students are equipped with the construction of various types of prototype machines manufacture using scalable techniques with the potential for commercialisation. And then developing a wide range of sensorless Moto control software, which are also applicable to the variable speed pump applications that give the successful result in the industry. This engineering course aims to create a wide range of designs for electric motors, varying in cost and performance and development of vast, efficient machines for electric vehicles, including novel efficiency map techniques. It is one of the specialised degrees necessary for the workforce's needs, which is growing at a spectacular rate.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER IN ELECTRICAL MACHINES AND DRIVES

To pursue this bachelor's degree, a candidate applying for this course must have passed the 10+2 examination from any recognised state or central board with a minimum aggregated mark of 65%. This is relaxable for the reserved category. Also, candidates must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and maths as their major subjects. With these conditions, candidates must also fill the individual college’s criteria to take admissions. Today this is one of the fast-evolving disciplines. In this sector, job opportunities are available in a wide range.  The engineers who belong to this field can work both in the public and private sectors. The demand these graduates increase day by day because of the need of professional for every industry.
