Students who are looking to join Control and Instrumentation are required to have sound learning and knowledge of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and electronics and process control. The course mainly concentrates on the principle, operation of measuring methods which are applied in the configuration and design of automated systems.

Control and Instrumentation

Today, organisations are putting expanding demands on the continuous availability of their services and the data to enhance business planning and decision making. Also, the data can show monetary, ecological and environmental preference as well. Since the world is running on technologies, businesses require better confirmation on the functioning of their control system which is becoming effective in the execution of their plants and financial returns.

It is essential to have control and instrumentation frameworks to assume essential parts in plant operation as well as controlling the cost of generation while maintaining or upgrading the system security. Accordingly, it is crucial that the control and instrumentation systems are efficiently and economically managed. Using digital technologies, new solutions are expected to come up to solve the problems related to different parts of the digital control systems.

The course is designed to go through the problems and challenges to initiate research activities to find potential solutions. The program furnishes essential theoretical background along with mathematics, on examination of different control and instrumentation systems. The course is incorporated with a variety of electives in flight dynamics, robotics, power system, electric drives, microcontrollers etc.

How to Join

One who wants to join Control & Instrumentation Engineering should pass the qualifying examination with an aggregate score of 60-75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. After completing the same, the student has to appear for the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE - Main) to get admission into one of the top colleges or universities in India.

Most of the engineering colleges in India offer admission to students based on the JEE Main examination. It is a national level entrance examination done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.

Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) is the national level entrance examination for admission to postgraduate courses by the IITs and IISc in India. Admission to these institutions is offered based on the score secured in GATE by the candidate.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the national level apex authority responsible for the regulation and control of all engineering colleges and courses available in India. AICTE is the statutory authority responsible for proper planning and coordination on the development of the technical education system in India.

Career Prospects

Control and Instrumentation graduates are being hired the most by manufacturing industries and plants, electronics and telecommunications sector etc. Some of the prominent sectors offering employment are robotics and artificial intelligence.
