Chemical Engineering (Oil Technology) covers the basics of oil exploration and extraction from its reserves to its processing and refining to obtain numerous by-products such as gasoline, diesel, natural gas, etc.

ABOUT CHEMICAL ENGINEERING (OIL TECHNOLOGY)

Petroleum and petroleum is one of the most rewarding fields of engineering. We envision it as one of the most promising careers at home and abroad, especially in West Asia. Petroleum or petroleum technology plays one of the essential roles in providing us with energy sufficiency in today's modern times. Therefore a career in oil technology is naturally in high demand. The course covers the exploration and extraction of petroleum reserves. From there, it deals with the transfer into products like oil, natural gas etc. As of now, oil is still responsible for around 70% of the world's energy needs. Despite the move towards cleaner fuels in the last few years and reduced demand, this field continues to be highly beneficial and luxurious. One can easily land a high paying and foreign job. This field's expectations are less prominent; however, it is currently worth enrolling in.

WHAT IS CHEMICAL ENGINEERING (OIL TECHNOLOGY)?

This course covers the basics of oil exploration and extraction from its reserves to its processing and refining to obtain numerous by-products such as gasoline, diesel, natural gas, etc. In this course, you will learn about the various teams and processes involved, locating and exploring oil fields, extracting oil from great depths, both offshore and onshore, and finally refining them into useful oil products. Apart from that, you will learn about the various means of transportation for oil, as most of the refineries are located far from the oil fields. It requires technological skills like app development, data analysis, network and security, among other things. You will also learn about the various means of transportation of oil from extraction to refineries and distributors or manufacturers.

This course will develop students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills as it involves their innovative approaches to corporate issues for this field. It also teaches among students other skills that are prevalent in mechanical, technical and chemical engineering. Students need to have a good grasp of subjects like Chemistry and physics to participate in this course. Students will also have their understanding of modern technology updated and learn new skills in programming and AI handled exploration processes. This is due to the increased demand for technological processes in the current petroleum sector.

Students are taught everything from physics, maths, chemistry basics to graphics, data analysis, communication, environmental studies etc. Technology and computer programs are critical in this field, so students are taught about microprocessors, operating systems, applications etc. Further, students are taught about the fundamentals of refining, production technology, safety protocols, etc.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING (OIL TECHNOLOGY)

For a BTech in Oil technology, students must have 55% marks in higher secondary and secondary exams from a recognised board. Students need to appear in the National entrance exams to be eligible to attend universities. The course is for four years.

You can find employment options in irrigation companies, land development companies etc. as Civil engineer, irrigation engineer, water resource engineer etc.
