With the advent of modern technologies and urbanisation, the polymer industry has become one of the most rapidly growing sector in the material industry. And by this more people are looking forward to this field for building a rewarding career and the opportunities have also increased two-fold.

Candidates who are organised and do well in teams possess analytical and excellent communication skills are the best suit for this course. Since the field is constantly evolving, candidates who are having a creative imagination can join this course. Basic topics in the field are product design, thermodynamics, transport phenomena and plat design.

Polymer Engineering

Polymer Engineering equips the students with adequate knowledge and skills needed for the production of polymers. Rubber, plastics, adhesives, resin and fibred combined together is termed as polymers. The program is all about the study of methods and techniques for efficient production and usage of polymers for various industrial and personal usages.

The course is designed to prepare the students by giving specialized knowledge and applying innovative perspective on it. The course makes the students think in a way to come up with innovative ways to maximize the production and application of polymers. Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, Anna University. Chennai, University of Calcutta, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala are some of the top institutes in India offering Polymer Engineering course.

How to Join

One who wants to join Signal Processing should pass the qualifying examination with an aggregate score of 60-75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. After completing the same, the student has to appear for the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE - Main) to get admission into one of the top colleges or universities in India.

Most of the engineering colleges in India offer admission to students based on the JEE Main examination. It is a national level entrance examination done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the national level apex authority responsible for the regulation and control of all engineering colleges and courses available in India. AICTE is the statutory authority responsible for proper planning and coordination on the development of the technical education system in India.

Career Prospects

There are huge job opportunities for Polymer Engineering graduates in the private and public sector in India and abroad. One of the top recruiters is the polymer manufacturing and user industry. They hire well qualified Polymer Engineers are supervisor, quality control inspector, production planner, mould designer etc. Other Industries which hire Polymer engineers are automotive, plastics, electronic, aerospace, power transmission and its related industries. The expertise of Polymer Engineers are being used in research and development, processing, quality control, training and management in many firms
